IGK CLIMBING CLUB
About the IGK Climbing Club (CC):
We have been inspired by our clients and friends who have made it possible for us to create the IGK Climbing Club (CC) because we care about you and those of you who are newcomers to this wonderful extreme outdoor activity. All interested are welcome!
We have our previous clients and newcomers' best climbing interests in mind because we teach very basic and fundamental climbing skills to those who are climbing for the first time ever. We also give previous clients the chance to gain the "hands-on" practice and experience that is needed to develop and master skill sets taught to them in previously taken IGK courses because we understand how difficult it can be to retain newly taught skills learned in a previous course.
Most importantly, the IGK difference is that we understand how nerve-racking and risky climbing can feel when practicing newly learned skills on one's own for the first time or with a partner whom one just met for the first time; hence, IGK has opted for the best way to help our clients practice, review, get to know each other and gain the confidence that will help enable them to take their skills above and beyond under the care and supervision of experienced instructors and guides.

Summary of the Outings :
In the morning, CC members gather at the designated meeting area (e.g. Chungnam National University). Once everyone has been accounted for and personal gear checked, we drive to the climbing venue (usually between 1 to 2.5 hours). At the venue, climbing gear is distributed, and the hike to the climbing crag begins (usually 20 to 30 minutes). Once at the crag, we fit gear and briefly discuss safety awareness and basic climbing techniques to help you up the rock. Our instructors set up a number of top-ropes on various routes throughout the day to give you a full and exciting experience out on the rock. The outings typically end with all the members joining for dinner and sampling the local delicacies.
What To Bring:
Don't worry about the climbing gear. IGK PROVIDES ALL THE NECESSARY CLIMBING GEAR! This includes: helmet, shoes, harness, and chalkbag.
Rock climbing involves a lot of flexible movement, so we
recommend that you wear loose fitting clothing and a pair of
hikers or approach shoes for the hike in. Although TEVAs
should be fine, please do not wear slipper-like sandals or
thong sandals for the hike in Caution must be used with
open-toed footwear. Packing a pair of slippers or sandlas
will make your feet more comfortable during the non-climbing
time.
It will likely be chilly and possibly even cold. So, we recommend that you wear more than just a single layer. We suggest a loose nylon short-sleeve shirt, a long-sleeve fleece shirt, a fleece jacket and a lightweight windbreaker. Please avoid wearing cotton, for example, tight blue jeans and cotton shirts!
In addition, a backpack that fits all your personal, hat, camera, a liter of water, tissue and a cold lunch should do the trick!
For more information on how to dress, please check out out our Gearing Up link.
IGK-CC NON-REFUND POLICY:
All IGK-CC payments are non-refundable. We do not refund
payments for sudden illness, injury or any other personal
mishap; however, if you notify us at least a week in advance
that you will be unable to participate in the originally
intended upon IGK-CC, we will gladly push your payment to
another future IGK-CC or to another person; this advancement
is only valid for the remainder of that particular climbing
season. For example, if you missed an outing in March, your
payment is only good for any other IGK-CC during the Spring
season. Please do your best to plan your personal schedule
carefully and notify us no later than one week in advanced
in order to avoid forfeiting your deposit unnecessarily. All
IGK-CC payments are non-refundable.
IGK CC Rain & Policy:
Despite weather forecasts or conditions, IGK CC events will continue as planned because we do go "Harder and Higher" at IGK. In the unfortunate event that precipitation prevails to the point where IGK deems climbing to unreasonably wet and the scheduled outing is cancelled prior to departure, IGK will forward your deposit to the next desired IGK-CC outing without penalty. In the event IGK deems conditions to be unsafe during the outing, and absolutely no climbing is done due to deteriorating weather conditions, IGK will refund 50% of your original payment in order to cover basic costs per client and processing fees and the remaining 50% will be forwarded to the next desired IGK-CC.
