Top-Rope Anchor Construction Course

Anchor construction is by far one of the most useful skill sets to know involved with climbing. Anchors are an integral part of almost all aspects of climbing. If you are serious about "upping" the climbing ante up, no longer want to be dependent upon others to set up top-ropes for you or want to be able to confidently and safely set up your own top-rope anchors, then this is the course for you!

IGK's Top-Rope Anchor Construction Course is an introduction and education on the construction and the principles of what constitutes a safe and solid top-roping anchor system. The course teaches the client how to construct safe and solid 2-point and 3-point static and dynamic(self-equalizing) anchors using artificial bolt hangers, trees, and other natural features of the landscape. This course also educates clients how to safely extend a properly equalized anchor over a precipice.

We strongly recommend this course for those beginner and intermediate climbers who want to head to the crag on their own.This course is designed for the recreational top-rope climber whose objective is to construct a safe and solid top-rope anchor without the risk of lead-climbing. This course is the premier course for "upping the ante" in any beginner or intermediate's climbing repertoire.

Our instructors educate, demonstrate and carefully guide you through each stage of anchor construction-- ensuring that you are able to construct the appropriate and proper anchor with confidence; and by day's end, you will have a complete understanding of how all the pieces fit together involved with anchor construction. Not only will you know how to construct solid proper anchors for certain given circumstances, but you will also have gained an understanding that will give you confidence the next time you go out on your own!
